Privacy
In short: Deep Bloom has no accounts and never asks for your name, contacts, photos or location. Your game is saved on your phone. If you leave "Share anonymous usage data" on in the game's Settings, it sends anonymous statistics that help us make the game better; turn it off and nothing more is sent. If you write to us from the game, we receive what you write, and your email only if you choose to give it. If you choose to watch an ad for a reward, Google's ad service receives the details it needs to show it. We never sell data.
Who we are
Deep Bloom is made by LVL Digital Ventures Ltd, the data controller for the game: company number 17436151, registered in England and Wales, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. Contact: [email protected].
What stays on your phone
Your progress (your reef, items, level and settings) is saved in the game's own storage on your device. We don't receive a copy. If your phone backs up its apps (Android's backup to your Google account, or an iCloud backup on iPhone), your save is included, so it can come back after reinstalling or on a new phone; that backup is your own, kept by Google or Apple, and we never see it. Uninstalling the game deletes the copy on your phone.
Reminders, such as "your crops are ready", are scheduled on your phone itself, only if you allow notifications. No server of ours sends them, and you can turn them off in the game's Settings or your phone's settings.
Anonymous usage data
While Share anonymous usage data is on in Settings (it's on when you first install, and you can turn it off at any time), the game sends:
- Usage statistics, through GameAnalytics: a random identifier made for this install, and Android's App Set ID or, on iPhone, Apple's identifier for our apps on your device (none of these is your name or an account), your device model, operating system and language, the game's version, and what happens in play, such as sessions, levels reached, orders delivered and any errors. Your rough location (your country) is worked out from your connection. On iPhone, if you allow tracking when Apple asks, GameAnalytics can also receive the advertising ID. We use this to see which parts of the game people enjoy, where they get stuck and what goes wrong.
None of this includes your name or contact details, and we don't use it to identify you, to advertise to you or to track you across other apps or websites. Turning the setting off stops it. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the game, balanced by that off switch.
Notes you send us
If you use Write to us in the game's Settings, the game sends us what you write, your email address if you choose to give one so we can reply, and a few details that help us understand what happened: the game's version, your phone's model and operating system, and your level in the game. Nothing is sent until you press Send.
The note passes through Cloudflare, which keeps it for us for up to 180 days and delivers it to our inbox. We use it only to answer you and to make the game better, and we keep it only as long as we need it to help you; ask and we'll delete it sooner. Our legal basis is your request: you chose to write to us.
Who processes it for us
- GameAnalytics ApS (Denmark): usage statistics. Any transfer outside the UK and EU is covered by the standard contractual clauses it offers.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): receives the notes you send from the game, keeps them for up to 180 days and delivers them to us. Transfers are covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, under which Cloudflare is certified, and by standard contractual clauses.
- Zoho (EU data centre): our email provider, where notes you send arrive.
- Google (AdMob): the ads you choose to watch, as described above. For this, Google also decides how it uses the data, under its own privacy policy.
- Google Play and the Apple App Store handle downloads, payments and their own data under their own privacy policies.
We keep statistics only as long as they help us improve the game.
Ads you choose to watch
Deep Bloom shows an ad only when you choose to watch one for a reward, such as finishing a timer or doubling a prize. There are no ads between screens. The ads come from Google AdMob. When an ad is offered or shown, Google receives your device's advertising ID (on iPhone, only if you allow tracking), Android's App Set ID or Apple's identifier for our apps on your iPhone, your IP address (from which it can tell your rough location), details of your device and how you interact with the ad, and diagnostics about how it ran. Google uses these to show and measure the ad and to prevent fraud, under Google's privacy policy; how Google uses data from apps is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
In the UK and the European Economic Area, Google's consent form asks you first whether ads may be personalised, and you can change your choice at any time in the game's Settings under Privacy choices. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Our legal basis for rewarded ads is your choice to watch one, together with your consent where it's needed.
On iPhone, the game asks once whether Deep Bloom may track you, with Apple's own prompt: Google first shows a short note saying why, then Apple asks. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, the game and Google don't receive the advertising ID, and the ads you choose to watch aren't personalised with it. You can change your answer at any time in your iPhone's Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
Purchases
Sea Glass packs and the starter pack are optional purchases made through Google Play (or Apple's App Store on iPhone). Google or Apple handles the payment under its own privacy policy; we never receive your card or payment details. The game keeps a reference to each purchase on your phone, so what you bought is given once and can be restored.
Children
Deep Bloom is made to be enjoyed by all ages. It asks no one for personal information, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Ads are shown only when the player chooses to watch one. If you're a parent and want the anonymous usage data off, turn off "Share anonymous usage data" in Settings, or write to us.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete data about you, or object to its use. Because the data we receive is anonymous, we may need your help to find it: write to [email protected] and we'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If the way the game handles data changes, we'll update this page and its date before the change reaches the game. This page covers Deep Bloom only; LVL Digital Ventures' company privacy policy covers everything else we do.
